Multimedia Perspective

  1. In addition to photography Melanie Burford used sound in her slide show.
  2. It gave the slide show feeling and a better understanding of what was going on in the community at the time.
  3. The video are the multimedia effect i found most interesting.

Wrapping things up

  1. While shooting in the art room it was hard for me to capture candid shots because people kept trying to look at the camera and smiling. I hesitated to get close because i didnt want to interfere or make people feel uncomfortable.
  2. I found myself thinking about focus the most. I took my time so i could make sure i was focusing on what i wanted.
  3. I attempted to use the Rule of Thirds. While shooting i made imaginary lines of thirds and i put the thing i was focusing on the most on those lines.

What the Pros are doing - sports

300mm
shot at 1/320
f/13.0

The shutter speed is 1/320. Its pretty fast because it was able to capture all of the fast action of two men jumping out of a helicopter in the photo. The aperture setting is big which means the depth of field is also large.

Composition Techniques

Lines
The red and white lines of the flag lead your eye to the bag pipe player.

Simplicity

This is a good example of simplicity because the main focus of the photo is on the statue of liberty and the flag. and by puting it against a blue sky with the light behind it makes it stand out.

Avoiding Mergers
This photographer made sure there is nothing taking attention from the main subject in the photo. The man in the photo does not have a border merger nor does he have near mergers.

Framing

In this photo there is a dark frame around the man the boy and the flag. The darkness makes a square like frame to bring out the man and the boy.

Balance

In this photo there is geometrical balance. Both sides of the photo are equeal to eachother. There are men on both sides of the coffin.

Rule Of Thirds

The focus of the picture is on the rail and the man. This is a great example because the rail is on the bottom line and the man is on the right line.

After Printing Post

We put our negatives into a holder thing. We used a small piece of emulsion paper to check how long we should expose it to light. Then we fixed the size and focus. Then we looked for the little crystals on the paper. Then we exposed the photo and put it in the chemicals for the proper amount of time. Then we made our final print by repeating this process with a 5X7 paper with the right amount of light exposure.
